In 2007, Reid Thompson, an 11 year old boy from Thousand Oaks, passed away in his sleep. The autopsy results were all normal only indicating a slightly heavier than normal brain, which is typical with persons with autism. The cause of his death is unknown.
The Thompson family has done everything possible to get their many questions answered. They have been in contact with representatives from the Autism Tissue Program (ATP) in an effort benefit themselves and other families with the knowledge gained from research. For more information on ATP and their research projects go to www.MemoriesofHope.org and www.atpportal.org.
Reid’s involvement also extends to two other medical teams at the UC Davis MIND Institute and Harvard University which are also conducting similar studies.
